Kayak 2010 - 'Going for a paddle'

I do have a sort of fitness / adventure streak still going through me and my friend Andrew Newark (who originally suggested going to Europe in 1998) planted a seed in my head about kayaking down the Danube river, starting from the Black Forest in Germany and ending 2850 km later at the Black Sea Romania.

So now its happening in June 2010. Andrew will also be kayaking with me and if you want to join us then come and join us.

The basic plan is to kayak 6 – 8 hours a day for 4 weeks and paddling 80 – 120km per day.

2010 paddle plan

So the plan:

To January 2010 is to maintain my fitness by running, cycling and kayaking.

24 - 26 January - Kayak the Waikato river (NZL) from Lake Karaprio to Port Waikato.

(This will give my body a kick start and shock as whats next is a tad harder)

16 April - Kayak the Elbe River (1100km) from the Czech mountains to Cuxhaven (near Hamburg ) Germany.

Schedule for Labe / Elbe - includes updates

June 8 - Start at Donaueschingen Germany, down the Danube to the Black Sea. (see map)
